Travel planning at a glance
Seopjikoji offers a coastal walk through grassland, past Seondol Rock and Hyeopja Signaling Site, with views towards Seongsan Ilchulbong. The suggested 1–1.5 hours is an editorial estimate and varies with the climb towards the lighthouse and photo stops. With little shade and exposure to wind, bring comfortable shoes, water and an outer layer, and stay within safety barriers.

Seopjikoji is an eastern coastal headland of grassland, sea views and volcanic cliffs, with Seongsan Ilchulbong in the background. Koji is a Jeju word for a cape projecting into the sea. Look at features such as Seondol Rock and Bulgeun Oreum, where red volcanic fragments are exposed, to understand Jeju's volcanic coast beyond its image as a television filming location.
Hyeopja Signaling Site remains on the grassland, where fire and smoke conveyed urgent messages during the Joseon period. A legend about the Dragon King's son and a fairy is associated with Seondol Rock; distinguish this story from its geological explanation. Spring canola flowers are a seasonal sight, and neither their bloom on your visit date nor the continued presence of a particular filming set is guaranteed.

Our editorial estimate is 1–1.5 hours for the coastal path, views and photos. A short seaside walk involves less walking than a route that also includes the slopes towards Bulgeun Oreum and the lighthouse. Check the on-site map and choose a turning point first so you allow enough time for the walk back.
Our suggested walk starts with the open grassland and coastal views, adding higher viewpoints according to how your companions feel. Allow extra time if you stop frequently for photos or to enjoy the canola flowers. If you also visit private exhibitions or commercial facilities around the headland, check their fees and opening hours separately from the coastal walk.

Seopjikoji is an open coast with little shade or shelter from the wind. On hot days, bring a hat and water and shorten your walk. In strong winds, avoid lingering near the lighthouse or cliffs. Do not cross safety barriers or go down slopes for a photo closer to the sea, and follow diversion signs where access is restricted.
With children or companions with knee discomfort, keep the visit short and focus on the grassland and coastal paths, treating uphill sections as optional. Even if spring flowers or coastal rocks look close, stay out of protected vegetation and remain inside railings. On rainy days, check the condition of dirt paths and steps first, and have an indoor alternative ready.

Check the visitor entrance and car park at Seopjikoji as your destination. If travelling by bus, plan the final stretch from your stop to the headland entrance. Search results for a nearby resort or art museum may not lead to your intended starting point for the coastal walk. Do not assume the entire coast is a single attraction covered by one ticket.
Combine this with Seongsan Ilchulbong to compare the view from a tuff cone summit with that from a headland projecting into the sea. Gwangchigi Beach is a separate option for seeing Seongsan Ilchulbong's full outline from the nearby coast. If visiting all three, the steps and coastal walking add up, so shorten one section according to your group's stamina and the sun.
