From full routes to short walks, plan the whole day: leaving your accommodation, walking and returning.

Travel planning at a glance

Planning a Jeju Olle walk includes transport from your accommodation to the start and back from the finish. Choose a full route or a shorter section to suit your fitness, and include vehicle retrieval if you leave a rental car behind. Before departure, recheck official routes, diversion notices, and buses and ferries for your travel date.

Individual taxi rides and prebooked transfersCompare whether to book transport to the start, and share the finish location and estimated range of finishing times.Do not assume a taxi will be available immediately. Check waiting and change terms for a prebooked pickup, and prepare a bus alternative.
Rental carsCompare parking legally near the finish and travelling to the start with parking at the start. If you leave the car at the start, consider transport to retrieve it after finishing, parking closing times and luggage together.

Route 7's finish and Route 8's start are different. Official guidance places Route 7's finish at Seogwipo Bus Terminal and Route 8's start at Wolpyeong. Even with consecutive route numbers, allow separately for travel between them.

Choose between completing Olle Route 6 and a short walk in Seogwipo

Official guidance lists Route 6 from Soesokkak towards Jeju Olle Traveler Center as 10.1 km, 3–4 hours, with an easy difficulty rating. The demands of walking more than 10 km, ascents and descents, and weather still matter, so it is not unconditionally recommended as an easy route for people with limited fitness.

Suggested itineraries including transport

A day walking Olle Route 6 from accommodation in Seogwipo

Accommodation → Official start at Soesokkak → Route 6 → Jeju Olle Traveler Center → Accommodation. Add travel, meals and breaks to the walking time.

  1. Getting to the start · Compare buses and taxis from your accommodation to the official start at Soesokkak. Check the bus stop and stamp location on the latest official map.
  2. Walking and breaks · Walk at your own pace, allowing for ascents and descents such as Jejigi Oreum, and add time for meals and breaks.
  3. Choosing to finish early · If your fitness or the weather is unsuitable, use a map to choose a place to finish near a public road or bus stop. Do not leave the route through private property or unofficial shortcuts.
  4. Returning from the finish · Check return transport from Jeju Olle Traveler Center to your accommodation. If you left a car at the start, add a separate journey to retrieve it.

Check before departure · Check bus numbers and exact departure and finishing times after choosing your accommodation and date. Calculate distance and time for a shorter walk from the section you actually select.

If the full route is too demanding, start around Jeju Olle Traveler Center

If staying in central Seogwipo, also compare a short out-and-back walk on nearby town sections, using Jeju Olle Traveler Center as your base. Select permitted walking sections and start and finish points on the official map, and distinguish this from completing all of Route 6 or receiving completion certification. Do not assign a distance or time to a shorter section that has not been selected.

Suggested itineraries including transport

Suggested 1-night, 2-day walking trip in eastern Jeju

Day 1: Gimnyeong West Port → Jeju Haenyeo Museum. Day 2: Jeju Haenyeo Museum → Jongdal Badang. Compare access and return demands for consecutive nights at the same accommodation with staying in eastern Jeju.

  1. Day 1: access and Route 20 · Travel to the start at Gimnyeong West Port, then use Route 20's listed 17.4 km and 5–6 hours as a basis, adding breaks and transport from the finish.
  2. Travel to your accommodation · Arrange transport from Jeju Haenyeo Museum to your accommodation. Compare the round-trip travel involved in consecutive nights in Seogwipo with luggage storage, check-in and the next day's access when staying in eastern Jeju.
  3. Day 2: Route 21 · Start at Jeju Haenyeo Museum and walk to Jongdal Badang. Allow for the listed 11.3 km and 3–4 hours, and the ascent and descent of Jimibong Volcanic Cone.
  4. Returning from the route's finish · A past account describes walking from Jongdal Badang to the Jongdal Elementary School bus stop and taking bus 201. Recheck the current stop, direction and timetable, and your final journey to accommodation or the airport.

Check before departure · Splitting the walk over two days is an editorial suggestion. The actual experience in the account below was walking the routes consecutively on the same day; it does not verify operations, accommodation or transport for a 1-night, 2-day trip.

Check diversion notices and ferries back from the islands too

Check pinned notices at the top as well as recent changes. Notices about Route 17’s start, Route 16’s finish and changes to Route 7 remain pinned. A notice’s presence does not mean its map reflects every current diversion; compare the latest map, follow-up notices and on-site markers.

Change notices include Siksanbong on Route 2, Changogyo Bridge on Route 17 and Route 18. This page does not reproduce the exact diversion alignments shown in map images. For island routes—Udo 1-1, Gapado 10-1 and Chuja 18-1/18-2—also plan harbor access, return ferries and accommodation in case sailings are canceled.

Frequently asked travel questions

Are Olle routes rated easy simple to complete even with limited fitness?

An official easy rating does not mean a gentle stroll for everyone. Even Route 6 is 10.1 km long, and the effort varies with ascents and descents, weather and breaks. You can choose a short section and places to finish early first.

If I bring a rental car, how do I get back from the Olle route's finish?

Compare parking legally near the finish and travelling to the start before walking with parking at the start and retrieving the car by bus or prebooked taxi after the walk. Check parking permission, operating hours and return services separately.

Can I start Route 8 immediately after finishing Olle Route 7?

Current official guidance places Route 7's finish at Seogwipo Bus Terminal and Route 8's start at Wolpyeong. Consecutive numbers do not mean they share the same point; plan transport between them separately.

Can I split Olle Routes 20 and 21 over two days?

This is an editorial suggestion to walk the 17.4 km Route 20 and the 11.3 km Route 21 on separate days. Compare access and return times for accommodation in eastern Jeju with consecutive nights at your existing accommodation. The referenced personal account describes walking both routes consecutively on the same day; it is not a verified account of a 1-night, 2-day trip.

Does the official route table include every diversion notice?

A distance table alone cannot guarantee access or the diversion route for your visit date. Before departure, check official change notices, the latest map and on-site markers together. For island routes, check ferries and the port you will return to separately.
