The government register gives Suak Oreum’s elevation as 474.3m and its height above the surrounding ground as 149m. Although its name includes a reference to water, it is not presented here as a scenic lake or a place for water recreation. Plan a visit to observe the forest and volcanic landform.
The volcanic hill stretches from east to west, with a steep southern slope and a relatively gentle northern slope. It has the characteristics of a scoria cone formed by accumulated volcanic ejecta. Gradients vary within the same oreum, so do not judge it an easy family stroll from its height alone.
Jeju’s individual oreum guide indicates that Suak has a trail and rates its difficulty as high. Check the currently available entrance and designated sections before choosing how far to walk. Do not plan to find a new route by following faint footprints through the forest.
Hallasan Dulle-gil’s Suak-gil is a separate 11.5km section connecting Donneko with the Iseungak area. Walking it does not mean you have visited Suak Oreum’s summit. First decide whether you want an oreum visit or to walk the Dulle-gil section.

Take the high difficulty rating into account when planning with children or older adults. Official information alone cannot establish whether every section has steps, railings or rest facilities. Check the actual entrance notices and your group’s walking abilities before recommending it as a short level stroll or a pushchair route.
Even a short distance may take longer on the steep southern slope or a wet forest trail. Keep to open designated trails, set a turnaround time and plan to return together. Prioritize remaining energy and descent time over reaching the summit.

Suak is the name of an oreum, while Suak-gil is an 11.5km section of Hallasan Dulle-gil connecting Donneko with the Iseungak area. Do not treat a Dulle-gil walk and a visit to the oreum summit as having the same distance or schedule.
The government guide gives it a high difficulty rating, and its southern slope is steep. First check the walking abilities of children and older adults and which trail is currently open. Do not assume it is a level stroll or a pushchair route.
474.3m is its elevation above sea level, and 149m is its height above the surrounding ground. These figures are different from walking distance or time. Check the actual entrance and open sections, then allow time for the ascent, descent and return journey.
