Unlike open grassy volcanic hills, Jeoji Oreum first offers a wooded forest experience. It is said to have been called Dakmol Oreum after Jeoji Village’s former name. Walking the circuit among trees and then climbing to the deck lets you compare nearby forest with distant open terrain in one visit.
Depending on weather, the summit deck offers views toward Hallasan, Sanbangsan and the western hills and sea. If fog reduces the view, focus on the trees and forest atmosphere along the circuit. Our suggestion is to walk slowly with chosen rest stops rather than rushing upward to see everything at once.

On clear days, look toward the western volcanic hills and sea.

Official information describes an approximately 1.5km gentle forest circuit, separate from the steps continuing to the summit. Time to the summit varies with your starting point and walking pace; we suggest 1–1.5 hours overall as an editorial estimate. At the entrance, decide whether to walk only the circuit or include the deck.
Our suggested route walks the forest circuit first, then continues up open summit steps if you have energy. Allow for deck photos and descent, ending before sunset. The forest can feel dark earlier, so do not plan the same arrival time as for watching sunset on the coast.

Forest shade does not remove summer heat or the need for water. We suggest drinking water and comfortable walking shoes; slow down around roots or wet steps. With children, include a short activity observing plant shapes on the circuit, and decide on the summit only after seeing the slope.
With parents or companions needing mobility assistance, do not treat the circuit and summit as equally demanding. You can omit the deck if steps are difficult. Forest paths and steps may be slippery after rain. In strong winds or dense fog, do not strain the itinerary by waiting for the view to clear.

Check Jeoji Oreum’s entrance and actual parking in Jeoji-ri, Hangyeong-myeon, on a map. A land address may point to the summit; use the official approach rather than trying to drive all the way. If combining venues in Jeoji Artists’ Village by bus, include walking distances from your stops to each entrance.
Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art offers exhibitions after the forest walk, while Spirited Garden offers different garden design. Check closures, last admission or fees for both before choosing. Our suggested itinerary centers on one hill and one cultural venue, allowing travel and meals even within the same region.
