Jeju National Museum exhibits, preserves and researches the island's history and cultural heritage through archaeology and history. The official permanent exhibition guide covers prehistory, the development of island villages, the Tamna kingdom, the Goryeo and Joseon periods, and the people of Jeju. Follow the timeline beyond individual objects to understand the island's relationships with surrounding regions.
Jeju has a history as a meeting point for cultural exchanges among the Korean Peninsula, China and Japan. Connect the dol hareubang stone figures, everyday tools and coastal villages you encounter on your trip with objects in the exhibitions. Temporary exhibitions cover changing themes distinct from the permanent displays, so check the current list and choose one or two areas of interest first.

The operator lists general exhibitions as open 09:00–18:00, with last admission at 17:30; the Children's Museum as 09:30–18:00, with last admission at 17:30; and the immersive video room as 10:00–17:30. As an editorial planning guide, allow 1.5–2 hours for the permanent exhibitions and other areas that interest you. Children's programmes, educational sessions and events may have booking requirements that differ from general admission, so check eligibility, times and available places separately. Do not assume a visit to the permanent exhibitions includes educational programmes that require reservations.
With children, choose a few objects that illustrate Jeju's formation and life in the past, and talk about them rather than rushing past every exhibit. If adding the Children's Museum or immersive video room, review the area's rules together with the accompanying guardian first. Check official exhibition and booking information for that day's screening programme and children's activities.
The largely indoor exhibitions make the museum an option for rainy or windy days. Outdoor displays are not sheltered in the same way. When visiting with parents, choose particular exhibition themes and allow rest breaks. Follow each gallery's signs on photography and flash restrictions.

The museum is in the area south of Sarabong Park. Set directions to the visitor entrance of Jeju National Museum's main building. If travelling from the airport or Jeju Port, check your bus stop, the final walk and luggage storage availability before setting off. If you have booked an educational programme, plan around its registration time rather than the exhibition opening time.
For a cultural day in Jeju City, compare this museum with the founding myth at Samseonghyeol or ecology and everyday life at the Folklore and Natural History Museum. Including all three may mean rushing through similar displays, so choose according to your interest in archaeology and history or nature and daily life. If the weather improves, you can add a separate coastal walk.
