Pyoseon Beach

Pyoseon Beach in southeastern Jeju offers broad sand and a rounded sweep of sea. Its appearance changes greatly between low and high tide, making it an option for sand play with children or a walk. You can combine it with nearby Jeju Folk Village, but water activities must follow designated swimming-area and safety-management rules.

Travel planning at a glance

Pyoseon Beach is a southeastern beach whose broad sand and sea views change with the tide. Allow 1–2 hours as an editorial estimate for walks and sand play. If you walk far out at low tide, plan to return before the tide comes in. Before children enter the water, check swimming areas, waves and lifeguard coverage.

Check low-tide sand and your return route as the tide rises; safety supervision matters even in shallow water

Pyoseon Beach's broad sand and rounded sea

Pyoseon is distinguished by the contrast between broad sand exposed at low tide and the rounded sweep of sea as the tide comes in. Even from the same spot, the beach's extent and character change with the tide. Rather than choosing only a photo location, check when the water recedes and returns on your visit date to enjoy the sea and sand as you prefer.

Sand play and coastal walking are separate choices from entering the water. We suggest exploring the broad sand, observing nearby landforms and watching the direction of the incoming water. A distant sea at low tide does not mean you should walk out without limits: choose a section with an easy return, and do not take sand or living organisms without permission.

Check the timing, as your return route may narrow.

Pairing with Jeju Folk Village

Plan cultural exhibits and beach relaxation as separate parts of the visit.

Pyoseon tides, sand play and time for beach walks

Allow 1–2 hours as an editorial estimate for walking and sand play. To see the low-tide landscape, check not only low tide but also when the tide starts coming in and your route back. If you go far out with children, the walk back may take longer; do not become so absorbed in photos or play that you miss the rising water.

On a swimming day, add time for changing, showers and rest, and check seasonal safety supervision and on-site services. Do not assume conditions in sunset photos or old swimming accounts will match your visit date. Plan the time needed separately for a day focused on water activities and a short beach visit after Jeju Folk Village.

Pyoseon Beach: children in the water, incoming tides and pet restrictions

The official introduction presents the shallow water as an option for children's water activities, but even apparently shallow water changes with waves, currents and the incoming tide. Adults should stay close to children and check designated swimming areas and lifeguard coverage. Prepare sand play and walking as the default alternative when water entry is restricted or seasonal safety supervision has ended.

Check the official guidance restricting pets from entering the water in designated swimming areas during the beach season. On-site restrictions also determine whether walks with pets are allowed; use a leash and clean up after them. The broad sand can be exposed to summer sun, so bring water and a hat. If wind or rain strengthens, shorten your stay in a section with an easy return rather than walking farther out.

A cultural itinerary with Pyoseon Beach and Jeju Folk Village

Check parking and pedestrian entrances for Pyoseon Beach in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, on the map. The beach is large, so using only its name as a meeting point can make it difficult to find one another; agree on a specific gathering spot. If visiting by bus, allow for the walk from a stop in the Pyoseon area to the beach and your return service after a meal.

Jeju Folk Village offers exhibits of traditional life that contrast with the beach. Seongeup Folk Village, where residents continue to live, is another option requiring a separate journey. Our suggested day itinerary allows a full visit to one cultural place followed by rest on Pyoseon's sand, distinguishing the visiting conditions of a paid folk-village attraction from those of an inhabited village.
