The small Wolpyeong Port once known as Dongmulgae

Wolpyeong Port is a small harbor in an inlet in Wolpyeong-dong, Seogwipo. Also known as Dongmulgae or Dongmul Port, it offers a glimpse of everyday coastal village life distinct from a broad swimming beach.

View the sea and basalt coast while reflecting on the harbor's history of traditional te-u rafts and sailboats. Plan a short walk on land to observe the harbor's shape and fishing boats rather than an activity in the water.

Take a short walk to view the harbor

First distinguish the areas where boats enter and leave Wolpyeong-dong's coast from places where visitors may stand. Plan a visit for photos and a return walk, and follow on-site guidance on how far you may go toward the breakwater's end or water's edge.

After viewing Wolpyeong Port, you can rest nearby in Wolpyeong-dong or continue toward Jungmun. If you have not checked current Olle markers, do not choose your onward route using the endpoint described in an older tourism introduction.

Check construction and waterside conditions for a family visit

The official tourism introduction still contains a notice prohibiting entry into the water during past construction. Do not interpret the passing of that date as permission to enter the water now. With children, first plan a route for viewing the sea from land.

Show children the harbor's curved shape alongside stories of the boats once used here. You can observe where the sea meets the village without going down to the water's edge.

Travel between Wolpyeong-dong's coast and Jungmun

Include the port in a coastal itinerary from Jungmun toward central Seogwipo. Rather than assuming it is the endpoint of a full Olle route, check the current route guidance and port location separately, and plan how to return to your starting point.

After Wolpyeong Port, consider Jungmun Saekdal Beach or Oedolgae Sea Stack. Rather than fitting them all into one visit, choose one to start with according to your direction of travel and your companions' energy, and check the actual transport connections.
