Baksugijeong Cliff beside the sea at Daepyeong

Baksugijeong is a high coastal cliff beside Daepyeong Port. Its name combines Jeju words introduced as baksu, meaning spring water, and gijeong, meaning cliff, linking the terrain and water in the place name.

Viewing the cliff from the harbor and walking Olle Route 9 above it are different experiences. Pine trees and fields continue along the top, but do not choose unauthorized routes up or down the coastal cliff to see them.

Start with harbor views before deciding on an Olle walk

For a short visit, start with the land-based views from Daepyeong Port. If you want to walk above the cliff, follow the current Olle Route 9 markers and choose it as a separate walk after checking the starting point and return transport.

Walking above Baksugijeong involves more slopes and travel time than viewing the sea from the harbor. Check the currently designated Olle sections before making the clifftop scenery your destination.

Observe the high cliff from viewing areas

With children, observe the cliff’s height and colors from the harbor side. The spring and rocks below the cliff are not freely accessible activity areas, and older descriptions of spring water do not mean it is drinkable today.

Observing the cliff’s layers and height from a distance lets you understand the terrain without approaching rock edges. Do not make your own way around the cliff base to look for the spring.

Plan access to Daepyeong-ri and your return from Route 9

Distinguish a plan to view Baksugijeong from Daepyeong Port from an Olle walk continuing toward Andeok. If you leave a vehicle in Daepyeong-ri and walk one way, you need transport back from the endpoint.

After Baksugijeong, consider Sanbangsan Mountain or Oedolgae Sea Stack. Rather than fitting them all into one visit, choose one to start with according to your direction of travel and your companions' energy, and check the actual transport connections.
