Cheongsu Gotjawal is an ecological forest in the central part of the Hangyeong–Andeok Gotjawal area. Trees and vines grow together over rocky landforms created by volcanic activity, revealing Jeju’s distinctive woodland. Look at how ground-level rocks and plants intertwine, unlike a landscaped garden.
The site is described as habitat for Unmunsan fireflies, but nature observation varies with season and weather. Firefly photographs do not mean you can expect the same evening scene year-round. Choose daytime visits for plants and forest light, and nighttime programs according to that season’s purpose.

Official tourism information explains that Cheongsu-ri village runs the site and advance reservations are required. Distinguish this guide’s suggested 1–2 hours of forest walking from actual program meeting and session times. Confirm permitted areas and your starting point according to the guidance you booked.
Village-led guided visits and activities such as crafts, food and foot baths are described as separate programs. If seeking fireflies, check the season, weather and reserved session first; sightings are not guaranteed. A daytime-only reservation does not include nighttime forest access.

With children, observe how trees and rocks coexist in the forest. Do not collect plants or enter off-trail habitat. Follow your booked guide’s route. Nature observation is not an activity involving loudly calling or catching animals.
For a firefly program, first listen to the operator’s instructions on lighting, clothing and photography. Do not use strong lights or flash without permission. Observe without disturbing natural light. Check every family member’s ability to move through dark sections before deciding to participate.

Spirited Garden and Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art offer cultural or restful stops after a daytime visit. Compare a natural ecosystem with a cultivated garden, or combine forest and contemporary art. On a day with a nighttime ecology reservation, leave enough rest before the evening meeting rather than extending daytime sightseeing.
