Travel planning at a glance

Saeyeongyo Bridge is a pedestrian bridge at Seogwipo Port with no vehicle access. Allow 45–90 minutes as an editorial estimate for bridge views and a Saeseom walk, but check access to Saeseom and the lighting schedule separately. Even when pairing it with Cheonjiyeon Falls for an evening itinerary, consider wind on the bridge and your return route.

Views of Seogwipo Port and Saeseom from Saeyeongyo Bridge

Saeyeongyo Bridge is a pedestrian bridge from Seogwipo Port to Saeseom. With docks and the port on one side and the sea on the other, it offers a sense of Seogwipo's working waterfront that differs from sandy beach scenery. A short walk to read the story of connections behind its name and see how the port and island are linked can be a visit in itself.

Saeseom has designated walking paths and offers the option of adding woodland walking to a bridge visit. Whether you take photos only on the bridge or continue into the woods changes the distance walked and your return time. We suggest first viewing the bridge's form from the port side, then comparing sea views as you cross, using only sections currently open to visitors.

Compare the different views of the docks and sea as you cross the bridge.

Saeseom woodland paths

Choose this separately from bridge views after checking stamina and access hours.

Night lighting

Check the lighting guidance for your visit date and which walking areas are permitted.

Planning separate time for Saeyeongyo Bridge's lights and Saeseom walks

Allow 45–90 minutes as an editorial estimate if including bridge views and a walk on Saeseom. Adding the Saeseom walk is optional; decide according to your companions' stamina and the daylight remaining. Distinguish the bridge's opening arrangements from access to Saeseom's woodland paths, and check current notices about events, inspections and weather.

If you want to see the night views, check the lighting schedule separately on your visit date. An evening view of the bridge does not establish whether Saeseom's woodland paths are open late at night. We suggest walking on the island in daylight and then enjoying the lights from permitted port and bridge areas. Do not assume every walking section has adequate lighting.

Saeyeongyo Bridge: strong winds, visiting with children and photography

The bridge is exposed to sea winds, so stay close to children and remind them not to run near railings. Do not block the central walkway or climb railings to take photos. Although vehicles cannot use this pedestrian bridge, other visitors continue to pass; pay attention to their movement even when you stop for a while.

In strong winds or rain, shorten your stay to account for the wind chill and wet surfaces. Older relatives or companions needing mobility assistance can focus on views after checking actual slopes and walking conditions, rather than extending the visit into Saeseom's woods. We suggest a windproof layer and comfortable shoes; arrange return transport first for a late visit.

Combining Saeyeongyo Bridge with Cheonjiyeon Falls and Oedolgae in Seogwipo

Find Saeyeongyo Bridge's pedestrian entrance and parking at Seogwipo Port. Vehicles cannot use the bridge, so do not plan a driving route into Saeseom on the map. For public transport, check the actual walk to the port and your return service. If walking from Cheonjiyeon Falls or another attraction, also check road crossings and entrance locations.

Cheonjiyeon Falls can add warm-temperate woodland and a pond to port views, while Oedolgae offers a sea stack rising from the water. Each needs separate travel and visiting time. Our suggested Seogwipo itinerary visits Oedolgae or a waterfall in daylight, then Saeyeongyo Bridge after a meal and rest, finishing according to that day's lighting and access guidance.
