Cheonjiyeon Falls, warm-temperate forest and ponds

At Cheonjiyeon, a 22m waterfall drops into a deep pool surrounded by warm-temperate forest. Unlike Jeongbang, which falls directly into the sea, its focus is the pool and forest. Choosing among the three waterfalls is easier when you recognize their different settings. Look at the trees and valley along the path before reaching the falls.

The official introduction explains the conservation value of the dampalsu trees, evergreen forest and habitat of giant mottled eels. A visit does not guarantee seeing particular animals; focus on understanding the habitat itself. Avoid collecting plants, throwing stones into the pool or feeding wildlife. Enjoy the sound of the water and the forest from designated viewing points.

Cheonjiyeon Falls admission, evening visits and suggested visit time

The operator lists visiting hours of 09:00–22:00, last admission at 21:20 and individual adult admission of KRW 2,000. Recheck daily notices concerning seasonal changes, maintenance and weather. Bring identification or other proof if an age-based rate or concession applies. Do not assume nearby waterfalls have the same fees or last-admission times.

This guide suggests 1–1.5 hours for the walk to the falls, photos and rest. An evening visit offers a different atmosphere from observing the forest by day, but avoid rushing to arrive at the last admission time. If combining dinner and Saeyeongyo Bridge, check operations and lighting at both sites and leave enough time to finish visiting Cheonjiyeon.

Walking Cheonjiyeon’s forest paths with children and parents

Its developed paths make Cheonjiyeon an option for visits with children or parents, but they do not guarantee easy walking for everyone. Include rests suited to your companions’ walking abilities and the actual distance covered. Hold children’s hands near the water, respect railings and access boundaries, and do not step toward the water to take waterfall photos.

After rain, slow down on wet paving and fallen leaves. At night, do not wander separately into dark areas. Companions who find spray or loud water uncomfortable can choose a viewing point farther away. This guide recommends comfortable walking shoes and a light outer layer. In bad weather, check access and shorten your stay.

Combining Cheonjiyeon, Saeyeongyo Bridge and Jeongbang Falls

Search for Cheonjiyeon Falls at 서귀포시 남성중로 2-15. Selecting the similarly named Cheonjeyeon Falls in Jungmun takes you to a different area, so check the name and address carefully. For public transport, plan the journey from Cheonjiyeon terminus or a nearby bus stop to the entrance, together with your return service.

Saeyeongyo Bridge is an evening option for port and bridge views; Jeongbang Falls is a daytime option for comparing a waterfall that drops into the sea. Jeongbang’s last admission is earlier than Cheonjiyeon’s, so check the order for a late-afternoon itinerary. This guide suggests a daytime waterfall or coastal stop followed by evening Cheonjiyeon, allowing time between them for a meal and travel.
