Myeongwoljin Fortress and Myeongwolpo, a gateway from the sea

Myeongwolseongji is the site of a defensive fortress in Hallim. The official description explains that Myeongwolpo was a landing point in several events in Jeju’s history, including those involving the Sambyeolcho and the Mokho Rebellion.

Buildings once inside the fortress, such as the guesthouse and armory, are described as no longer surviving. Read the information signs to distinguish the fortress’s former functions from the reconstructed architecture visible today.

With parents and children, start with exterior views instead of stairs

For companions who find stairs difficult, limit the visit to the gate and surrounding exterior. You do not need to walk all the walls or climb the high gate pavilion to appreciate the site.

Distinguish village fields and living spaces from visitor areas, and do not move stones or climb the walls. Shorten the visit in rain or wind, and prioritize safe movement over photos.
