Operating and access information is based on the official sources below. Recommended routes and visit durations are editorial suggestions. Check each place's description to see whether waiting, meals and similar time are included, and allow separate time for travel between places.
Geum Oreum has peaks around a crater and ridge views over western fields and Geumak Village. It is also introduced as Geumak Oreum. A water-filled crater in photos shows only one possible condition; there is still scenery without a lake. Observe the crater outline and surrounding terrain too.
Official information explains that crater water collects after rain but may not remain for long. Do not create your own route down to the water or crater floor; view it from open designated ridges. Clear weather may reveal views toward Hallasan and Biyangdo, but clouds and fog mean those views are not guaranteed.

Water collects or dries according to rainfall and water levels.
Observe the village and Hallasan direction as the weather permits.
Our editorial estimate is 1–1.5 hours for ascent, descent, ridge photos and breaks. A maintained approach is still not a level stroll without slopes or the demands of descent. Read entrance access and land-use notices, and choose a turnaround point on the ridge according to your companions’ pace.
For sunset, avoid a plan that only gets you to the summit at the last light. Include parking, the ascent, photos and a safe descent, leaving time to return before dark. Even when hoping for a post-rain lake, wet surfaces and fog can make the walk harder, so check weather first.
With children, focus on the experience of climbing and observing the crater shape rather than summit photos. Keep them from running along the ridge or approaching edges, and bring enough water. A paved path does not mean an easy stroller route all the way; anyone needing mobility assistance should check the slope first.
Follow access restrictions and livestock and land-use notices when photographing the crater. Do not descend into off-trail grass for photos, and leave room for other walkers. In strong winds, shorten the area you cover rather than circling the entire ridge. Visit earlier if transport home after sunset is uncertain.
Check Geum Oreum’s official entrance and parking in Geumak-ri, Hallim-eup, on a map. Compare the actual visitor route rather than entering only a land address and being led into private or work roads. For public transport, calculate the full journey after checking the walk from your stop to the entrance and the return service.
Jeoji Oreum offers a wooded hill to compare with the crater views, while Jeju Museum of Contemporary Art adds exhibitions after an outdoor walk. Geumak and Jeoji require a separate journey and are not presented as a continuous walking route. If choosing two hills, consider fitness; for an exhibition, check closures and last admission. Plan around one main stop.
